The temperatures aren’t quite dropping yet, but the leaves are starting to change, and it is officially autumn!! While the crisphere are the five reasons we are falling in love with fall:
1. Football
Two words: Monon. Bell. November 14th is the day at Blackstock Stadium. It has been way too long since that handle was painted its rightful color. It’s the time of year when Saturdays mean tailgating and tossing the pigskin.
2. Pumpkin: The Reason for the Season
From lattes to soft serve, pumpkin spice is one of the best things about fall! Dairy Castle has a tasty pumpkin treat this season if you are in the mood for sweet ice cream. Starbucks is serving up some classics laced with the always delicious pumpkin seasoning as well. At the local farmer’s market, you can find homemade pumpkin bread as well as other treats. I think it’s safe to say if you are a pumpkin loving gal, this is the season for you.
That chill you feel in the air means one thing: it’s finally time to break out the vests, boots, sweaters, and scarves! You cannot deny that you have been waiting all summer to strut around in your favorite layers crunching those leaves.
4. Old Gold
Ah yes, DePauw’s homecoming weekend. Alumni are back on campus and the special events are in full swing October 9-10. See Sweet Honey on the Rock perform in Kresge Auditorium on Friday, or cheer on our Tigers in football or futbol on Saturday.
5. Halloween
Costumes and candy… Need I say more? Not to mention all the wonder that is in a Halloween movie marathon! Don your ears and have fun on October. You’re a mouse, duh.
