Sometimes, college students are put under a lot of pressure to major in something that is “practical” or “will make them a lot of money.” These career paths and expectations are not always what the student ultimately loves. I went around my freshman dorm (Humbert Hall) and asked students to first write down their dream job, not worrying about money or reasoning. I did this with the expectation that afterwards, when I asked them to write their major, the two wouldn’t quite match up. To my surprise, this wasn’t always the case. I was happy to see that my fellow Tigers are, in fact, pursuing majors that they enjoy and can help assist them in accomplishing their dreams. However, in a few cases that perfect job may be a bit far fetched…
