David Lopez ’17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.
Her Campus: Hey David, so why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?

David: Well let’s see, I’m a junior Posse member from Brooklyn, NY. My ethnicity is Dominican and Puerto Rican. I’m a junior Communication and Political Science double major. Oh, and I lead a student worship service every Friday.

HC: Wow that is so great, tell me more about the service that you lead!

DL: Yeah! Well it’s based off a church back home called misfit NYC. It’s a youth ministry where they have hip-hop spoken word, dance, and different forms of music.

HC: That is super interesting, how long have you been involved with this?

DL: So I joined about 5 years ago, and decided to bring it back to campus last semester to share with my peers.

HC: That is amazing! It’s really outstanding and impressive that you have brought over this form of worship all the way from New York. I am sure it is going well!

DL: Ha-ha, thank you!

HC: Now that we know a bit about your background, here comes the fun part! How would you describe your perfect date?

DL: Hm. I imagine the perfect date being a place where I can have fun but also make conversation, so definitely not a movie date. Food HAS to be involved sometime throughout the night, and it has to be something active—we can’t just be sitting around.

HC: I like your style; you actually want to get to know a girl. Have you had a perfect date like this?

DL: Well, ha-ha yes I have.

HC: Please elaborate for our readers!

DL: I go on dates like this all the time with my current girlfriend, Melody. She’s incredible (sorry, girls). We went to this amazing laser tag place back in Queens, maybe 2 years ago.  And after that, we went to this incredible Mexican restaurant—can’t forget the food!

HC: Oh, so you are taken?

DL: Ha-ha yes. Don’t mean to disappoint!

HC: Aw, no worries! Well thank you so much for your time, David! Hope you enjoy the rest of your junior year, and good luck with your Friday night worship service! Maybe some of our readers will be inclined to come check it out!
