10 Things to Get You Through Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

With finals coming up stress amongst college students is climbing. With morale low, we have compiled a few things that you can look forward to this summer when you go home. Let’s get to that finish line!

1. Pets

You can go home to that special animal you’ve missed all year and spend the summer with them!

2. Your bed

The bed you have waiting for you at home will always be the comfiest. Getting a good night sleep is inevitable when you finally get to sleep in the peacefulness of your own home.

3. Your friends

Personally I miss a lot of my childhood friends and summer is the perfect opportunity to catch up! It can be hard to stay in contact during the school year but with everyone home in the summer you can get backs to late night talks and watching ridiculous movies.

4. Your family

During the school year it’s really hard to stay as close to your family as you were when you lived with them everyday. Now you get to hangout with siblings and your parents and reconnect with your loved ones.

5. Warm summer nights

There’s nothing better than sitting around a fire, roasting s’mores and enjoying the beautiful weather!

6. Homemade food

You know you can’t wait for your mom’s famous taco dip or chicken casserole. Also cookouts with family and friends always include the best grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Plus watermelon is the sweetest in the summer months.

7. Eating at your favorite local restaurants

I can’t wait to be in a familiar place where the waiters know my name. Those cheese fries will be waiting for you when you get home!

8. Summer traditions

Going on vacation to the New York mountains has been a tradition the past few years that I look forward to each summer. Getting away for a week or two in the summer always reminds me how lucky I am to have traditions such as this one.

9. S’mores

You can’t forget about all the delectable s’mores you’re going to consume this summer and always find new ways to add more chocolate to the mix!

10. Freedom from school

The small break we all need to rejuvenate our aching brains.

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and have been doing dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading for as long as I can remember. I have been a lifeguard for six years. I am a member of the Alpha chapter of Alpha Chi Omega here at DePauw. I have cheered on the tigers for football and basketball seasons for the last three years. I am a Biology major and my dream job is to become a pediatric nurse. I will be going to nursing school after I graduate from DePauw.
