Last year, during her junior year at DePaul, Naperville-native Ellyse Orndorff was busy splitting her time between classes, an internship, being a member of Delta Gamma & PRSSA and writing for her personal blog, With Love, Ellyse. Somewhere in between all of that she found time to start-up a Her Campus chapter for DePaul, and today, serves as the Editor-In-Cheif of the online blog and magazine for collegiettes. Interests & Hobbies: Catching up on blogs, working out, planning parties, fashion, baking and always spending time with friends.
Dream job: I have like seven at the moment, but my absolute dream job is to work at a magazine. I would also love to work in event planning or work at a smaller fashion, beauty or lifestyle boutique PR firm. Somewhere down the line I hope to own my own event styling company and boutique as well.
What are you involved with on campus? Besides Her Campus of course, I’m a member of Delta Gamma and PRSSA.
What inspired you to start a Her Campus chapter at DePaul? I transferred from Miami University in Ohio; they had a chapter there and it always seemed interesting to me. I looked into it when I got to DePaul and noticed that they didn’t have a branch so I decided that instead of waiting for someone else to start up a chapter so that I could simply write for it, I would start my own. I haven’t looked back since!
How do you wish to grow and expand Her Campus at DePaul? Right now the main goal is just to make more girls on campus aware about us! I’m also looking forward to adding more staff members and growing our team throughout the year. We’re working on getting HC registered as an organization on campus so that we can hold events and further spread the word about our site!
What makes Her Campus such a great thing for DePaul? It’s definitely something that’s unique for girls our age. I know so many friends who enjoy reading blogs, but feel that it’s hard to find blogs that are written by people their age and that are relatable to what they’re going through. Her Campus is the perfect platform for college girls to get info on everything from fashion to daily life, and it’s also relevant to us becuase it’s all tailored to DePaul and Chicago!
What are you looking forward to this year? I’m (not) looking forward to being a senior…I feel old and I’d rather stay in college forever! But in all seriousness, I’m so excited to finish up my education and see what path I start on towards my career. There are so many unknowns at this point, but so many possibilities, and I can’t wait to see where I land after graduation!
