10 Tweets to Explain My Feelings About the New Character Limit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePaul chapter.

Recently, Twitter doubled the character limit from 140 to 280, but only for some. This was a quick experiment in which some users were randomly selected to receive the new character limit. While many Twitter users (including myself) have been complaining about the small character limit this was a huge shock that only the best tweets can explain.

I don’t have the time or energy to read 280 characters, no thank you.

Editing all your thoughts down builds character!

Why can Twitter double the character limit but not give us what we really want??

Most importantly, why am I the only one without the bigger character limit?

If they double the limit what’s next?

Is it really that necessary?

I spent way too long navigating the minefield of 140 characters to give up this soon.

There are way more pressing matters that Twitter should attend to.

While we don’t know how long we will be stuck with the 280 character limit, we can choose to either get used to it or just not use it. Who am I kidding? We’re all stuck on Twitter for the rest of our lives, even the President addresses the nation on it. So have fun having to read 280 characters for as long as Twitter will ignore our whining.
