Benidorm – Spain’s Party Capital

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DCU chapter.

Benidorm is known to most as a sunny little spot on the Spanish coast where our elders go to relax and soak up some sun. Well, if you’re looking for a sun holiday full of parties day and night look no further, because Benidorm is the place to be!

Only a 30 minute taxi ride from Alicante Airport, Benidorm is the ultimate wild getaway in the sun with your best gal pals, as the party only ends when you say so!

Whether you stay in one of the luxury five star hotels or one of the smaller ones in Old Town, Benidorm is a 24 hour party. Old town is where you will find Benidorm’s gay district, and no matter who you are, this area is well worth the visit. Every night you’ll find plenty of live covers of your favourite pop divas as well as plenty of clubs blasting out all of our favourite cheesy hits and guilty pleasures, from Spice Girls to Queen B. What more could a gal ask for? With the mixture of old Spanish buildings and gay clubs and pubs, Old Town Benidorm has a quirky unique vibe to it.

But the New Town is where the party is really at. The lights on the main strip can be seen from a mile away and it’s full of club reps waiting to drag you into different clubs and pump you with free drink! These clubs stay open until about 10 o’clock the next morning so be prepared for the shame as you walk down the beach on your way back to your hotel while OAPs and families set up for their day on the beach. and you are returning from your all night session, possibly covered in paint and any other props you may have stolen from the ladies from one of the hen parties you became best friend’s with. After this you better rest up because many bars and pubs turn themselves into clubs in the early morning/afternoon.

New Town is also full of plenty restaurants for you to get yourself a bit of grub, along with plenty of modern and classy hotels for a bit of luxury if that tickles your fancy. Little cocktail bars are also dotted around the New Town in case you fancy a little stop off before you hit the madness of the main strip of bars and clubs.

If you’re looking for something cheap, cheerful, sunny, and a little bit bold, then this is the spot to hit this summer! Forget Ibiza and forget Magaluf. Benidorm is truly the party capital of Spain with something for every type of party animal, but is also a great spot for some pampering and soaking up the sun if that’s what you prefer.
