A Story of Friendship: How Two Freshmen Girls Found Each Other in the Abyss

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

If you’re like most Davidson students, you probably arrived here with between 0 and 3 friends.

After Day Two, we [the authors, Katie and Alivia] still had zero friends. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Katie wandered into Alivia’s room the morning of Day Three and said, “What’s your phone number, can we be friends?” …the rest is history…

New friendships can be tricky to navigate. On one hand, you don’t want to be too clingy.

But, you’re also desperate for friends.

We teetered between being friends and acquaintances for a few hours until we found each other in our hall lounge… a place where the bond flourished beyond what we could’ve imagined.

The next day people began to realize that hanging out with the two of us practically made them a third wheel.

Pretty soon we were going everywhere together,

sharing everything from clothes to Instagrams to flickerball coaches,

making all decisions (both good and bad) together.

And we are best friends… three weeks into freshman year and people are concerned if they see one of us without the other. We couldn’t be happier and couldn’t be more of a mess! <3
