With final papers, projects, and exams upon us, crafting the perfect makeup look is one of the last things on my (or anyone else’s) mind. If you’re anything like me though, you feel compelled by some artistic passion to do something with the blank canvas that is your face in the mornings. This is why we’re going to take a cue from the recent K-beauty trend of point makeup.
South Korean makeup artist Pony (Park Hye-Min) with her one-point look.
This particular trend emphasizes playing up only one or two features of the face. We’re going to take this one step farther by only using one product!
I’m going to show three different looks that can be achieved using only one product each in under five minutes.
This first look is inspired by the soft and delicate beauty of a rose, with flushed cheeks and lips as our “points.” I’m using NYX’s butter lip balm in Red Velvet, but any red cream or liquid product will work perfectly. The key here is to use your index finger to lightly build color by tapping the products onto the apples of your cheeks and onto your lips.
Our second look is perfect for spring and summer! Our points are going to be the lips and cheeks as well, but instead of red, this time we’ll be using a coral-orange color. I’m using NYX’s Whipped Lip and Cheek Souffle in Coral-Sicle. Follow the same instructions, just build up the color to the intensity of your choice.
The last look is not for the faint of heart! We’ll be switching up the points to our eyes and lips, and for an instant grunge vibe we’re going to use a black eyeliner. I’m using It Cosmetic’s No Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black, but any creamy eyeliner will work perfectly. For the eyes, line as close to the lash line as possible, then create a “flick” past your eye using the upward angle of your lower lash line as a guide. Fill in the flick as thick or as thin as you desire – there’s a million ways to do it. For lips, use your eyeliner as a lip liner and fill in your lips with the color. Smooth out the color with some plain old lip balm if you need!
As promised, here are your one-product, five-minute makeup looks. Have fun with these and get creative! Best of luck!
