Pounds With A Purpose – Khloe Kardashian Teaches Revenge Body 101

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

We all know that ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ is one of our guilty pleasures whether we are willing to admit it or not. The family of reality tv pioneered their stardom through their elicit focus on businesses and brands, featuring casmetic, fashion and as of this spring – fitness. The middle of the sister powerhouse, Khloe Kardashian, created a spin-off reality show called ‘Revenge Body.’ ‘Revenge Body’ puts focus on Khloe’s ersitence to lose weight, and her eagerness to shed her title as “the fat sister.” Recently she has taken the opportunity to change her life around and live a healthier lifestyle. Her transformation of eating healthier and working out was in part due to her on-going divorce with estranged ex-husband, Lamar Odom. Khloe aimed to prove to Odom what he was really missing out on, while also showcasing that she is better off without him.

Khloe’s passion for change, fueled the creation of ‘Revenge Body,’ the show utilizes her story of love, loss and emanicpation of labels, to help other women and men that are ready to reap their revenge. Most of their stories include getting back at an ex, a frenemy, or someone that always made fun about their weight. She matches each person with a specific trainer, workout plan, and diet in order to better their lives, undergoing a 10 week long program to help then shed inches and pounds. After the 10 weeks is up, Khloe along side participants, reflect on their weightloss and personal accomplishments.  A lot of the participants love the program that was given to them and continue to make goals and see results for themselves later down the line. In the end it is not about the person they were orginally focused on, but rather looking out for the betterment of their lives.

‘Revenge Body’ correaltes with the lifestyles of college students, those few years can be an emotional rollercoaster. People are breaking up left and right. Let’s face it, we all gained weight during freshman year due to that meal plan. If you get broken up with, usually girls want to show him what he is missing out on; exactly how Khloe felt towards Lamar. Some girls will go as far as, getting a new haircut, changing their entire wardrobe, and making sure all their changes are caught in the perfect social media flick. But girls and guys we do not need to do this or change for anyone! This may sound cliché, but you should not have to change yourself just to make your boyfriend or ex notice you. Khloe wants women and men to feel empowered about themselves when they go through a hard part of their lives, rather than down in the dumps. By working out and eating healthier it helps better the person’s lifestyle and has many psychological benefits as well. By working out and eating healthy after a break up or hardship in your life, you will have a positive and upbeat feeling when you start to get your “revenge body.” The result will make you want to keep going and continue this lifestyle for the rest of your life.

Khloe may have not started working out for the right reasons because of her recent divorce from Lamar, but she continued to live a healthy lifestyle. She wanted to pass on this experience to others and show that change is possible and good things are to come after a hardship. By watching this show and realizing the underlying message behind how Khloe wants everyone to strive for a healthier lifestyle and live with the right intentions, you guys can see that this show can help anyone and everyone realize this as well.

Revenge Body premiered January 17th, 2017 on E! Network and is set to revamp for its Second season later this year.
