Save or Splurge: 5 Beauty Products that Won’t Empty your Bank Account

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

SAVE: The Blushed Nudes

SPLURGE: Urban Decay’s Naked 3

1.Looks familiar, right? Maybelline has just made a slam on Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette. This palette has a beautiful range of rosy, warm colors that could be warn individually or combined. Rather than spending a whopping $54 dollars on Urban Decay, Maybelline’s palette makes it a little easier on your bank account.  The Blushed Nudes is only $9.99 at Target and offers the same gorgeous colors.

SAVE: NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade

SPLURGE: Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade

2. You don’t have to spend $18 just to maintain those fleekin’ eyebrows. NYX’s Tame & Frame is a favorite of plenty of makeup artists and Allure Magazine. For only $7, you can maintain those fabulous brows. Wanna go in the hot tub? Maybe you’re in the mountains and you want to go in the hot springs? Good thing this brow gel is waterproof.  I hope I just made your day by informing you that you don’t have to break the bank to rock those brows.

SAVE: Maybelline New York Baby Lips Lip Gloss

SPLURGE: Fresh Sugar Shine Lip Treatment

Us Colorado ladies always have Chapstick in our backpack. It’s that time of year where your lips are chapped so often that it starts to get to a point where it’s annoying.

Remember when Baby Lips first came out and everyone was obsessive over them? Well, now Baby Lips has a new member in the family. Baby Lips Lip Gloss comes in 12 different shades and will leave your lips completely soft and NOT STICKY. Yeah, I said it. Your lips aren’t sticky when you apply this bad boy. Why spend $19 on Fresh Sugar Shine Lip Gloss when you can get the exact look for $5 at Ulta.

SAVE: CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara

SPLURGE: Benefit They’re Real! Mascara

4. This is your new mascara, ladies. I don’t know about you, but whenever I go to get a new mascara, it is never the same one I had before. But with CoverGirl’s Full Lash Bloom Mascara, I have now picked it up three times in a row after I finished the bottle. This mascara makes your lashes long and dark. You don’t get any of those weird clumps that other mascaras give you either. For only $7 at your local drugstore, I totally recommended this gem of a product. Although Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara totally rocks, you could buy yourself more than a few sushi rolls at Hapa with that $25 it will cost you.

SAVE: Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix

SPLURGE: Shiseido The Makeup Stick Foundation

5. When I first saw this, I thought it was concealer. Who wouldn’t? Anyways, this little guy will save your life. This is a light coverage foundation that will completely even out your skin tone just by directly applying it to your face and buffing it out with your fingers. In my opinion, this would be perfect to pop in your purse before going out. Who knows? A walk of shame could possibly happen the next morning and it is always nice to have a little touch up. For just $11 dollars, rather than Shiseido’s $40 stick, you can find this at any drugstore.
