Meet Bridgit Kodenkandath, a member of the Bollywood Barbies dance team!

Year? I am technically a senior

Major? Environmental Studies

Hometown? Grafton, Massachussets

Besides dancing with the Bollywood Barbies, what other organizations are you involved with on campus? I’m Greek Sustainability Coordinator which is part of the Environmental Center, I’m a program ambassador for CU in DC, and I’m a Research Assistant at the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research. I’m a regular at the Annex which is a college ministry held at First Pres and participate in many South Asian Student Association’s events. And I’m in DG!!

Who are the bollywood barbies and how did you get involved with this organization? So the Bollywood Barbies have been an all-girls Indian dance team at CU for a while, since a little before I was a freshman. Currently, there are six girls on it, including myself, and we perform around campus, and recently, around Denver. We won Culture Shock (a talent competition on campus) last spring, was invited to perform at City Hall in Denver for the Indian Wedding Festival, and just recently performed at SASA’s annual Diwali show. All of us used to take lessons, but now we choreograph all our routines and love performing them. We wanted to keep dance in our life and share Indian culture in our little bubble of Boulder, so come watch one day if you can!

Favorite TV show? Veep and Sherlock on BBC

Best place in Boulder to grab a bite to eat? Cured LLC on East Pearl! AmAZing, unique, European-style sandwiches, and the place is so cute

Favorite moment at CU Boulder? So many great moments…but my “Little Sister” in DG had an extra ticket to the Jane Goodall lecture and took me, and it was the most moving/inspiring/incredible speech I’ve had the chance of sitting in on. It was so amazing. I cried.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Honestly, I am not sure, haha, but I think that’s what’s beautiful about this part of our lives, we have no idea, and that’s so exciting!

…But hopefully, saving the planet in some way or another.

Sko Buffs!
