6 Reasons Why You Should Stay Home for Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cornell chapter.

1.     Sleep. Why else would you go home? You get to finally sleep in your own bed without any interruption or places to be. It’s time to sleep the day away and not care about a thing.

2.     Food. Finally, you can have some real, quality, tasty food. Whether it is a home-cooked meal or the best local cuisine, indulge for a week before you have to come back to Ithaca.

3.     “Me” Time. Make spring break all about you. Go home, relax, be on your own schedule, and do anything that you want. Treat yo’ self!

4.     Family. Catch up with loved ones. Reminisce about fond memories. Enjoy those awkward and embarrassing moments that everyone loves. And remember that it is only a week, if you are dying to get back to freedom.

5.     Pets. We all know who we really miss the most while we’re away at college. You can spend all day with your dog or cat on your lap. It is impossible to be away from them for too long and vice versa.

6.     NETFLIX. That’s all I can really say. By this point, you should be sprinting home so you can lie on your bed all day, be scared of what Frank Underwood will do next, and wish you were just like Kimmy Schmidt.

Shelby is a freshman at Cornell studying Economics and Government. She is really excited to be a part of Her Campus because she loves to write. Originally from Westchester County, NY, Shelby is a sports-lover and a huge TV and film buff. She honestly doesn't know what she would do without Netflix and Hulu Plus. She really just likes to have a good time and is known for her "laugh heard round the world".
I am a sophomore Communication major at Cornell University, with minors in Creative Writing and Law & Society. I was born and raised in California and, besides writing, I have interests in 4-H, law and film production. At Cornell, I serve on the Literature Review, am an avid member of Film Society, work as a Cornell Ambassador and participate in AWC (American Women in Communication). I am also the Campus Correspondent for Cornell's Her Campus chapter!!
