Spooky Destinations for Local Halloween Fun!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

Halloween is fast approaching and you know what that means… time to get spooked! Well, when you aren’t slaving away over papers and studying for tests, that is! (But let us be honest here, that’s also quite terrifying.) Here are five fabulous not-uber-far-away destinations that will be sure to send shivers down your spine!

1. Six Flags New England Fright Fest (Agawam, MA)

Things that will make you scream: the haunted house, the oh-my-GOSH-it-goes-upside-down roller coasters, the thought of how many calories are in that fried dough you’re eating… now that’s what we call frightening!

2. Lake Compounce Haunted Graveyard (Bristol, CT)

This is, perhaps, the most amazing of the list. The Haunted Graveyard is a spectacular way to bond with your buddies, because we all know that peeing your pants from being so scared kind of brings people together.

3. The Dark Manor (Baltic, CT)

A mix of menacing manor, horrific haunted village, and graveyard, you’ll be having nightmares for weeks! And we mean that in a good way!

4. Adventure Rooms: The American Horror Escape – Halloween Spectacular (West Hartford, CT)

Ideal for group dates or just a great time with your besties, the Adventure Rooms experience of trying to escape a scary situation will definitely lead to hilarious (and chilling!) memories that you can count on being Instagram-worthy.

5. Factory of Terror (West Warwick, RI)

If the Asylum of Screaming Ghouls doesn’t make you scream along with them, then Dracula’s Hideaway, the Black Out, Psycho Alley, or the Ghost Cemetery at Centerville Falls will still getchya!

Have a safe (and spooky!) Halloween, Camels!

Brooke loves being a bookworm and listening to bands you've probably never heard of. *smirks* She is an English major with a concentration in creative writing who aspires to either work at a fashion magazine or become a college professor for creative writing/English. Cake decorating and baking in general are her favorite things in life besides her pug dog who is her main man. One day she'll marry Holden Caulfield, and they will live happily ever after!!!!! Oh, fun fact: She has her real estate license so if you need to buy a house or apartment, she's your woman. xx
