Campus Cutie: Leah Puklin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

If you don’t know this Campus Cutie, you are missing out! Leah Puklin is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet at Conn. On top of that, she is always on the go as captain of the Varsity Squash team and member of the executive board for the Hillel House. Continuing her research from this summer’s CELS internship keeps her busy as well. A lover of chocolate, squash, and laughing, Leah is definitely a Cutie worth meeting!

Class Year: 2015

Hometown: Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania

Major: Environmental Studies

Minor: Mathematics

Extracurricular Activities: Squash Captain, Hillel

How long have you been playing squash?

My grandfather introduced me to squash when I was 7. I have been playing competitively since 8th grade.

Any pre-game rituals?

I like to listen to some pump up music and do a few footwork drills to get me warmed up. I also like to get a pep talk from a teammate or coach before I go on the court.

What was your CELS internship this past summer?

I conducted environmental research with a Conn Professor. We studied in-stream structures and their impact on the geomorphology of a river up in NH. We went camping in NH for two weeks…we worked really hard but watched the world cup whenever we could find civilization and made campfires and s’mores every night!

Celeb Crush: Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights)

Relationship Status: Single

Describe your ideal date!

Go out to dinner for some Thai food, head over to Mystic and stroll around the town, and end the night with some delicious homemade ice cream at Mystic’s Drawbridge Ice Cream shop.

What qualities do you look for in a significant other?

Someone who likes to play sports, studies hard, and knows how to laugh

Favorite food: Chocolate ice cream, hot chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries…basically anything chocolate

Guilty pleasure: Friends reruns on Nick@Nite

Favorite place on campus: Mamacoke Island

Do you have any embarrassing camel moments?

That moment, senior year, when I couldn’t find my classroom (Oliva Hall) and had a freshman show me where to go

As a senior, what is the one thing you haven’t checked off your Conn bucket list?

Go to star gazing night and check out the Olin Observatory

What advice would you give to the underclassmen?

Study abroad, it will be a life changing experience…and go see a squash match (I hear cool people play on the team..hah)

How do you feel about being Campus Cutie?

I am very honored to join the Conn Cutie Club, and it made my day when I found out!
