Crystals Aren’t Just Accessories: Five Common Crystals and How They Can Help You Study

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Concordia CA chapter.

Crystals are beautiful and thankfully for us, they’re no longer only worn by hippies and hardcore spiritualists. Every day I see them popping up more and more in mainstream fashion. So, why not use this trend to your advantage?

Here are five crystals that look chic and can actually help you study!

How do they work? According to Melinda Passmore, owner of Melinda’s Enchanted Cottage in Simcoe, Ontario, crystals have vibrational qualities which raise our energy with their natural high energy when we wear them. This results in a lighter mood, more energy as well as other benefits specific to the stone.

1. Clear Quartz

Clear quartz is the most common crystal (you probably have one)! The stone is said to amplify your energy, making it a great stone for school. It also has revitalizing properties, which is a push you may need to stay concentrated while studying.

2. Amethyst

Amethyst is a meditative and calming stone, and like the clear quartz, it’s kind of a catch-all crystal. It is great for protection as well as memory and intuition, making it the perfect stone to wear while you’re cramming for a test.

3. Citrine

Citrine is a success stone! It’s perfect for working on that essay you left until the last minute. It clears away negative energy leaving you totally zen and ready to study into the wee hours of the morning!

4. Bloodstone

Bloodstone is a grounding stone which releases mental blocks caused by anxiety and stress allowing you to study in peace.

Side note: It is also said to be great for getting over a cold.

5. Fluorite

Fluorite is a stone for mental order, clarity and is perfect for a busy study season. It’s known for taking your cluttered chaotic thoughts and evening them out to help you concentrate!

Remember, you are using crystals to enhance your positive energy. This means that they can get “dirty” from the negative energy they’re absorbing. Make sure to cleanse your crystals every month or so, either by putting them on your clear quartz or amethyst, placing them on your windowsill at night, or by cleaning them with sage, water or salt.
