What Kind of Traveler Are You?By May 3, 2013 - 12:39pm Ah, to travel! Traveling means different things for different people. Whether it’s a backpacking trek through Europe, a Caribbean cruise or a cross-country road-trip, traveling means leaving your home and exploring somewhere else—miles away, or the town next door. Traveling can push us out of our comfort zones, force us to pick up a few conversational phrases in Japanese or French, or just allow us to unwind and pick up a tan. Wanderlust is a beautiful thing, and it can take you to places unbelievable and perfect, in their own ways. READ MORE |

#DailyStruggle: Dealing with Post-Break DepressionBy April 1, 2013 - 12:26pm Now that we’re back on campus after spring break, it’s official: we have PBD—post-break depression. We’ve come from lounging on the beach, bathing in Costa Rica’s warm sun and are now braving NYC’s warmish-but-not-warm-enough early spring weather. We went from indulging the magnificent laziness that comes with free time to slogging through piles of textbooks in Butler. We had a bit of the sweet taste of summer, a much-needed treat, but now we want more. Surely we can all agree that a week wasn’t long enough to satisfy all our cravings for sun, downtime with family and friends, traveling, and the oh so lovely beach. READ MORE |

As Columbia student, our schedules are already pretty busy, but once exam period starts up, things start getting particularly cray. This is a fact that we all knew coming in to college, but for some reason, we keep getting rudely reminded of it whenever we sit down to take an exam. As important as it is to make yourself proud in your classes, we at HC Columbia are here to remind you that letting go and relaxing are equally important. Mental health, anyone? A few techniques can help you balance between your pressing workload and the unrelenting temptation to abandon it all and enjoy yourself. The truth is, we aren’t talking “all or nothing” here.... |
