Harrison Shih – CC ’16

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

Name: Harrison Shih

Year: Sophomore

School: Columbia College

Major/Concentration: Political Science

Hometown: Saddle River, NJ. Born and raised in the 201.

Relationship status: Single

On-campus activities: I’m on the golf team here so that takes up most of my time during the fall and the spring. I am also on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of EcoLions. I love meeting new people so I’m always trying to find ways to get involved around campus.

Off-campus activities: Spending time with family. I know that I wouldn’t be here without their support, and I am very grateful for everything they have done for me. I’m also extremely lucky that golf allows me to travel all over the country. I love spending time in the South. After all, what’s nicer than a southern belle?

Summer plans: Livin’ the Dream playing golf. What guy wouldn’t want to spend his summer days on the course?

Pet-peeves: Dirty laundry. There’s something to be said for taking pride in your presentation.

Dream job: To play on the PGA TOUR. Getting paid to do something I love.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, you would need: Good music and even better company.

Every guys needs these three things in his closet: A good set of pullovers and sweaters, hair gel (I mean, I am from Jersey) and cases of Gatorade. Anyone that knows me knows I can’t live without it.

Your perfect date in 7 words or less: Just has to be the right girl.

Favorite off-campus location: Yankee Stadium. I’m a huge fan so any girl that is into baseball is a keeper in my books.

Favorite thing about NYC: It’s so big that there is always something new to explore. There’s a reason why we call it the city that never sleeps.

Favorite class and professor at Columbia: Intro to Political Theory with David Johnston.

Spirit animal: Koala Bear.

Dream wife: Someone who is just as fun going out Saturday night as she is kicking it in sweats on Sunday afternoon.

One thing you want to do before graduating: Be a part of the golf team that represents Columbia at its first national championship.

Top three albums of all time: Heres to the Good Times by Florida Georgia Line; Confessions by Usher; Tailgates and Tanlines by Luke Bryan

If you could have a super power what would it be and why: The ability to read minds. You ladies don’t make it easy.

If you could invite anyone to dinner, you would ask: Lou Gehrig- Columbia grad and Yankee legend.

HamDel decides to name a sandwich after you (what’s it called and what’s in it): The Mayor. Chicken Cutlet, American cheese, Avocado, chipotle mayo and honey bacon. A little bit of sweet and a little bit of heat.
