The Final Grind

By Caroline Tocci
April 28, 2012 - 10:13pm

We’ve come to the last stretch of the semester with only one week left of classes before final exams begin.  After our crazy SPW last weekend, you may have developed a cold (the weather doesn’t help) or just an overall disinterest to be at school any longer.  The forecast predicts a chance of snow and rain for the next week and still the last thing you want to do is spend hours in Case studying.  While you have to get your work done, there are other important things you need to do to get you through the next two weeks.  Here are my tips for a stress free end of the semester.

SPW Hangover Cures!

By Emily Bliss
April 21, 2012 - 5:34pm

Since we all know you were wasted all weekend, and the first time you actually got sleep was the few hours after Insomnia party (and that other party Saturday night/Sunday morning), you’re going to have one hell of a hangover on Sunday. Here are our recommendations for avoiding the hangover:

1.     Drink water! Set out a bottle of water the night before and actually drink it before falling asleep. After your full day of drinking, your body is sure to be dehydrated and dying for fluids. SPW Attire Guide

By Emily Bliss
April 14, 2012 - 9:40pm

Unfortunately, the 10-day weather forecast predicts 50 degree, scattered showers weather for Spring Party Weekend 2013. While this will prohibit most outdoor activity, this will no means slow down our fun! Easy Spring Produce Recipes

By Emily Bliss
April 7, 2012 - 8:39pm

As the temperatures increase, so does the amount of local produce available. Being in Hamilton, NY allows us students ample access to fresh, local produce, so let’s use it! The weekly farmers market on the village green resumes in May and supplies the Hamilton community with a wide array of fresh veggies and fruit. Even if you can’t make it to the farmer’s market, the produce in these at Price Chopper will be fresher as they are in season! With that in mind, here are some recipes to utilize the fresh produce!

Spring Trends

March 31, 2012 - 10:02pm

Even though it’s currently sleeting/snowing, after last week’s heat wave I’m confident that spring is on its way.  But no matter when the warm weather actually arrives, now is the time to start your spring cleaning. Pack away your winter jackets and cords in exchange for lighter layers like skirts and sundresses.  With events like formals and SPW rapidly approaching, it's best to start your online shopping now (as if you ever stopped), so you'll be ready for the festivities.  To make you a little less overwhelmed, here are some of the most popular trends of the spring season that you may want to check out:

A Smart Girl’s Guide to Going Away for the Weekend

By Emily Bliss
March 24, 2012 - 8:12am

Though we all love Hamilton, NY and all it has to offer, sometimes we need a break for a few days; we need a change in scenery to regenerate and take a breather from the chaos that is Colgate. I have found many students have a fear of missing out (FOMO as my roommate calls it), but sometimes the cure for our anxieties and stresses is to get away and miss out (or opt out). I personally think that going away for a weekend only makes me love returning to Colgate activities and people more. So, with that in mind, here are some tips for taking a weekend away!

By Emily Bliss
March 2, 2012 - 5:07pm

As the spring weather moves in, and the unseasonably warm winter weather rolls out, we students are prone to getting sick. So, in an attempt to stay healthy and on top of your game, here are some ideas to help out!

1.     WASH YOUR HANDS. This has probably been drilled into your head since you were born, but, nonetheless, it is so important! Make sure you wash your hands before every meal to ensure you’re putting no germs in your mouth. Your hands carry the most germs so make sure to disinfect before eating! Also, always carry around a mini hand sanitizer just in case you don’t have time to wash your...
