While there are many cuties on stage at Dancefest, I thoughout I would point out a cutie that works behind the scenes. Meet Jake Baynum, this week’s campus cutie and the “sound guy” at Dancefest.

Name: Jake Baynum

Hometown: Shippensburg, PA

Major: Political Science

Minor: Chinese or Philosophy

Campus Activities: Netflix, chilling with friends, long walks on the Willow Path, #killingit, jugging/fratting, regret

Fun Fact: “I go to Colgate.”

Dream Job: “Janitor by day, International Art Thief by night.”

Relationship Status: “Painfully alone.”

How are you involved with Dancefest and what responsibilities do you have?  “I get paid to make sure that the music sounds good, the microphones work, and I set up the audio cues with the dancers. It is a pretty sweet gig. I will be sitting up front at the table. Find me.”

What are some of the challenges of working at Dancefest?  “I was hoping there would be more Dance Moms. But there aren’t. That was a challenge for me to get over initially.”

What is your favorite part about Dancefest?  “Seeing Marcell, a member of Wolfpack, dance. Oh, and one time Katie Moskowitz went on the stage and danced at the competition that the hosts have, which is normally aimed at kids. It started out rough but she redeemed herself with some classic moves such as the ‘shopping cart’ and ‘stirring the pot.’ Despite this, she lost. Badly. I was even embarrassed for her. I get PTSD every time I see a shopping cart now. I can’t imagine how she feels.”

Do you have any good dance moves yourself?  “I’m that guy that is either awkwardly standing in the corner or in the center of the floor making a fool out of myself. There is really no happy medium and I do not think either of these moves would be welcome on the Dancefest stage. Oh, and not too long I accidentally hit a guy while dancing. FUSE here I come!”

How do you feel about being this week’s Campus Cutie?  “Confused because you asked the sound guy and not someone in Wolf Pack. Bad move on your part.”
