We all know that Colgate kids love to party… we are ranked the #2 social drinking school after all. Colgate doesn’t have the “work hard, play hard” motto for no reason. We have fun going out to parties and then hitting up the Jug. But what happens when you’re too tired to go out or you have too much work? Here are some fun, not party oriented activities for the weekend!

1). Go to a concert at the Barge Canal: The Barge hosts concerts almost every weekend, with a wide variety of music. Performances range from Colgate University students to national performers! The concerts are low-key and you can sit front row while enjoying a hot chocolate. Could there be anything better? For a complete listing of all performances, visit the Barge Canal website http://www.bargecanal.com/Calendar.html
All performances are free and open to all! For more information and updates on performances, ‘like’ the Barge on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1144402442

2). Be a Rowdy Raider and cheer on the Colgate University sports teams! Every weekend there are many athletic events to choose from. This Saturday, for instance, there is a men’s lacrosse game, a women’s basketball game, and a men’s ice hockey game! Attending a sporting event is a fun way to show school spirit while hanging out with friends. For a full calendar of events, check out the Colgate Athletics website http://gocolgateraiders.com/index.aspx

3). Go out to dinner with friends! Now that Donovan’s Pub is open for service, why not try it out? With a pub-style menu, head over to Donovan’s to sample all of the offerings! To view the menu, click here http://www.colgate.edu/portaldata/imagegallerywww/e86b0b18-0d4a-49de-9486-cec6521df0f1/ImageGallery/Donovans%20Pub.pdf Also new to Hamilton is the Hamilton Eatery, so give it a shot, too! The website http://hamiltoneatery.com/about.html offers the menu as well as a section for upcoming specials!

4).  Participate in a Late Gate event! Though not every weekend, Late Gate sponsors late night activities for Colgate University students. The Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Late-Gate/130313937699
provides information on upcoming events. This week, for example, Late Gate is sponsoring Late Skate http://www.facebook.com/events/367938323217350/

5). Watch a movie: Whether you head into town for the $3 student movie fare or to Love Auditorium for CAB Take Two movies, watching a movie is always a great way to relax on the weekends. The CAB Take Two movies are free for Colgate students and two movies are featured both Friday and Saturday nights. For more information, visit their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/CAB-Take-Two-Movies/275387783578

No matter what you do with your weekend, have fun and be safe!
