Beat Test AnxietyBy May 2, 2013 - 4:59pm The end of the year is here and finals are looming ahead! Here are 5 quick tips to beat the anxiety from your upcoming tests: 1. Think positive thoughts! Focusing on the bad things that could happen fuels test anxiety. Positive thoughts can give you the confidence to work through any anxiety. Tell yourself, "I will pass this exam. This exam will be easy." Be mindful of your thoughts and if you find yourself thinking negatively, replace those thoughts with realistic positive ones. 2. Avoid comparisons! Don't worry about how and when other people are studying. Concentrate only on your own tests and studying. 3. Take breaks! READ MORE |

Summer Reading ListBy April 23, 2013 - 4:28pm Do you find yourself wanting to read a "good book," but dont really know where to begin? I find "top novel" lists so overwhelming, as are the books one finds on them ("Oh ya, I'm reading Moby Dick, without a class or professor or anything" - said no one ever...) How do you choose a book that is fun and intellectually stimulating? There is a huge gap between Fifty Shades of Grey and Pride and Prejudice, but the bookstore can be an anxiety-producing place. Here are 5 of my favorite "good reads." Enjoy! 1. Little Bee by Chris Cleave READ MORE |

Do's And Don'ts of the JugBy April 3, 2013 - 12:26am Do’s and Don’ts of the Jug The Old Stone Jug. Their Twitter account calls the jug “the most happening place in Hamilton, NY.” College Confidential calls it a “steamy cesspool of hormones masquerading as a dance club.” Ron Burgundy would probably call it the Old Stone Yug, with a soft J. Whatever you call it, we’re all headed there one night or the other, so keep these tips in mind if you want to have a great night and a regret-free morning. DO tie your jackets with your friends’ jackets and/or to part of the wall. The temptation to fling your coat on the nearest bench is always there, but, much like the temptation of that fourth slice of pizza you MUST resist the urge. READ MORE |

5 Fun and Easy Workouts for People Who Hate Working OutBy March 27, 2013 - 12:45am They don’t call me non-athletic Lanes for nothing! Besides the fact that I shamefully have never been on a sports team in my entire life (nope not even pee-wee or high school teams, nada, never), I openly accept the fact that I am athletically challenged. However, at this fitness enthused university we all know the many benefits of working out. Just 30-60 minutes of working out can improve energy, promote weight loss, and releases endorphins, which keep you happy. Unfortunately those 7-layer Oreo bars that Jean delicately lays out at Frank also keep me a little too happy, so I have made a forced effort to join the Colgate masses by frolicking down to Trudy any chance I get. Ask Miss Colgate: How to Say No to a GuyBy March 23, 2013 - 8:36pm Honest advice from a Colgate collegiette! My friends have recently called me out on the fact that almost every time I go to the Jug, I end up going home with a guy. The worst part is, I’m usually not even into the guy. I just feel bad turning him down and, honestly, I like the attention from just flirting or even making out. How do I say no to a guy if he tries to bring me home without hurting his feelings? I don’t want to end up being called a bitch and have guys stop talking to me completely … READ MORE |
