CommencementBy May 14, 2013 - 12:00am Although we’re in the midst of finals, as a nostalgic Senior my thoughts are far from the 30 page paper I must start and finish for Friday and focused on my final days as a Colby student. The next two weeks leading up to graduation will be a whirlwind from the library basement to the festivities of Senior Week, but I still believe nothing will be able to surpass the feeling of wearing a cap and gown and reaching for my diploma. A Night With Gatsby: Junior/Senior SoireeBy May 4, 2013 - 10:00pm Saturday, May 4th in Page Commons. The end of the year is so close and as a senior I can say I’m trying to forget about the little amount of time left I have as a college student. However, I, and all Juniors and Seniors (and select underclassmen), have the annual upperclassmen soiree this Saturday night to look forward to! In honor of the highly anticipated Great Gatsby movie coming out May 10th, the soiree this year will be 20s themes. So channel your inner Midnight in Paris, Great Gatsby, flapper, Moll (a gangsters girl), etc. for what’s going to be a swanky night. Tickets are on sale in Pulver all week from 11-2. For more information go to the Facebook Page. ... |

Macklemore and Ryan LewisBy April 12, 2013 - 8:00pm It's the moment we've been building up to since campus first exploded with the sound of Thrift Shop this fall: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in concert! Friday night the Athletic Center doors will open at 8pm. Opener Iggy Azalea will be first up followed by our favorites. So what should you wear to this concert? I know it's April, but keep in mind Friday is going to mid 30s and snowing/raining so those tiny shorts and tank tops we love to wear won't be very practical. Instead opt for jeans, a neon top, shoes you don't mind getting wet, and a waterproof jacket. Scared you'll lose your jacket in the mosh pit? Wear an across the body bag and tie your jacket around the strap! READ MORE |

Weekend of Sports: Men's Rugby Player Auction and Muddy Jack & Jill MeetBy April 5, 2013 - 10:00am Ladies, there are a couple of exciting events this week. In fact, the events are so cool that I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to feature for the even this week—so I chose both. Bold, I know, but probably worth it. As a sports lover, although these two events are sports I don’t know much about, I’m always eager to learn more. READ MORE |

Room DrawBy April 1, 2013 - 9:00pm It’s that time of year folks when the stress of room draw begins to creep into our lives. If you’re a junior or senior you’re probably fairly versed in the aspect of Colby life, however, as freshmen and sophomores the process can be a little eerie. Last week Colby held two information sessions and now it's time to start planning for the mad rush in April. This system is chaotic and stressful and we at HC Colby highly recommend having a well thought out plan in advance! Here are some other helpful tips and tricks that will make your room draw experience smooth. READ MORE |

Ultra 2013By March 22, 2013 - 4:40pm Not going anywhere for break? If you’re not bitter about that, you can live vicariously through those who are hitting up Miami for the second and final weekend of the Ultra Music Festival (I wish—next year). What’s Ultra? Probably the greatest American house music festival of all time—it probably surpasses Electric Daisy Carnival and Electric Zoo because it’s three days of nonstop fun outside, listening to the best of the best. Mr. Colby and DogheadBy March 13, 2013 - 8:10pm Just hours before Doghead, my second favorite Colby tradition gets underway. Well, it starts at 7:00 PM in Page Commons, to be exact. Yes, the Mr. Colby competition. As the ultimate Campus Cutie tracker for this very blog, no one appreciates a great looking Colby man with a good personality more than I do. I’d say Mr. Colby is one of the most well attended Colby events of the year. So get there early for a good seat. It’s worth it. READ MORE |

Bicentennial DayBy February 26, 2013 - 9:00pm As you may have seen, if you read your e-mail or ever go on the Colby website, we have a Bicentennial Day coming up on Wednesday, February 27th. In case the word hasn’t spread, 2013 marks Colby’s 200th year as a college. And we have a day off from classes (best news ever) to celebrate. READ MORE |

Calling All Single Girls: Valentine's Day PlaylistBy February 14, 2013 - 12:00am It’s that time of year again, many single ladies’ (I want to say all, but some mysteriously love it) least favorite holiday. Yup, you guessed it: Valentine’s Day. As one of Colby College’s token single ladies, I have lived through three, going on four, Valentine’s days on the hill. I’ll admit, there’s a quality of it that’s nice; I like pinks and reds, and love chocolate, so it’s certainly an excuse to wear cute colors and have a little extra sugar intake. But then I think of all of the couples holding hands, going out to dinner, and having romantic nights. Part of me is happy for them, and part of me wishes they would take that disgusting cuteness and throw it away, relax a little bit. ... |
