1. Where are you from?

Ely, Minnesota—a small town in Northern Minnesota

2. What’s your major?

Government but I am also following the pre med track

3. What are you involved in on campus?

I am captain of the Nordic Ski team, a COOT leader, SAAC, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, the Sophomore Class Council, Colby Leadership Academy, and CCAK.

4. How did you decide to become a COOT leader/which COOT did you lead?

I lead the cooking COOT with Dani Levine and Chy Ward. I absolutely loved getting know our freshmen and being a part of their first week at Colby. I think that COOT is a huge part of the reason that we have such an awesome feeling of community here at Colby. I think it’s truly what makes Colby so different from other schools. I realized this after my first year here at Colby and I wanted to have the chance to take a group of freshmen and create an environment for them that would help make them feel confident about themselves and with each other during their first week of college.

5. What’s your favorite class you’ve taken so far?

My W1 class freshmen year, Great Issues in American Government.

6. What do you do as a member of SAAC?

I am a part of the Voices for Athletes on Campus sub committee. We are in charge of trying to meet the needs of athletes by working to fix things that they feel need improvement.

7. What’s the weather like for you here as compared to Minnesota?

The cold is definitely not an issue but the rain is! Minnesota winters are heavier on the snow but rain is completely unheard of! I’ve had to adjust to being prepared to wear my raincoat in January but I have to admit I don’t miss the 30 below 0 days that seem to happen frequently in Minnesota!

8. What’s the time commitment like as a member of the ski team?

A lot of my time is devoted to skiing both in season and in the off-season. We have a pretty rigorous training plan that begins in May every year and ends in March so we are training extensively throughout the whole year.

9. Do you have any advice for future Colby students?

The relationships that you make with the people at Colby will make your Colby experience unforgettable. Get out there, be bold, and never underestimate the power of a simple conversation with someone you don’t know.
