Name: Nicole Molnar

Year: Freshman

Major: Biology

Involvement: PLP, Her Campus, Alpha Sigma Alpha

Why did you choose CNU? “I chose CNU because the first time I visited I just got this great sense of community. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I automatically was able to see myself here. I didn’t get the same feeling at any of the other schools that I had visited. I also liked how it was a smaller school and how it was far away from home yet close enough that I could get home on weekends easily.”

How has your transition been so far? “So far my transition has been great! It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I was able to pick up my new schedule and run with it. I have enjoyed each of my classes and professors, nothing’s been too overbearing. I went through a patch where I was homesick and missed my family, which was tough. Overall, I love being independent and being able to have my own schedule.”

What are you most excited to do at CNU? “I am most excited to make new friends. I wasn’t the most outgoing person in high school, so I look forward to changing that and getting involved and putting myself out there so that I can meet new people. I have recently done this by joining ASA, which I am super excited about and can’t wait to see where it takes me!”

Why were you interested in Her Campus? “I was interested in Her Campus because it was one of the only clubs that really excited me! it seemed like a great way to get involved and make a difference on campus.. It also seemed like a great way to meet new people.”

What’s something not many people know about you? “Not many people know that I am missing two teeth in the front of my mouth. I was born with the baby teeth but without the adult teeth, so when I lost the baby teeth nothing grew back in. People don’t notice this because I wear a retainer that has fake teeth attached so when I talk it looks like I have those teeth. It’s only noticable when I take it out to eat.”

Do you have siblings? What’s your funniest story with them? “I have a younger sister, Leah, she is 11. She is really good at Call of Duty and beats me every time we play together by a lot. The thing about us is that there is a 7 year difference between us and my parents always say that they have never seen a 11 year old and a 19 year old fight like we do, and for some reason I’m always the one that’s accused of not acting my age.”

If you had to pick a favorite quote, what is it and why? “This is hard cause I have a bunch of favorites. ‘Be your own kind of beautiful’ is one of my favorite quotes because it’s something I try to live by everyday. I have always had confidence and self-esteem issues, so one thing I work on is trying to make sure that I am being my true self. I always try to remember that nobody is perfect and that everyone is different. Everybody comes in different shapes, sizes, and colors and it’s beautiful.”

Who was your role model growing up? “My role model growing up was, this is going to sound cliche, but my parents. I can’t just say one over the other, because they both equally influenced me and made me who I am today. My dad was my role model because he has such strong morals that he doesn’t let anyone or anything change them. He also isn’t afraid to stick by his opinion, no matter what anyone thinks. I hope I’ve got some of that strength in me. My mom is my role model, too, because she is just an overall friendly and outgoing person. She will talk your ear off about anything. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She always tells me, ‘Don’t let mean people get to you, you should just kill them with kindness’. I have learned to be friendly to everyone I meet and to make everyday a happy one from her.”

Do you have any tattoos? “Yes, I have three. One one my foot that that says ‘serenity, courage, wisdom’ which is from the serenity prayer. One on the back of my left shoulder that says ‘I have lived a thousand lives’ which is from the quote ‘a reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, and the man who doesn’t only lives one’.  My third one is on my wrist and it is a cat.”

What’s your Hogwarts House? How do you see those traits play out in your everyday actions? “Ummmm I have never watched Harry Potter so I don’t know what the Hogwarts Houses and those traits involve :)”
