The leaves are changing colors, the temperature is dropping, and there are pumpkins everywhere—Halloween is almost here. It’s the perfect time to attend costume parties, to carve pumpkins, and to explore a haunted house. For those of us who prefer to stay at home, it’s also the perfect time to cuddle up on the couch and watch some spooky Halloween specials. And if you want to tap into your nostalgia as well as your Halloween spirit, then grab a fuzzy blanket and settle in, because this list is for you. For your viewing pleasure, I’ve compiled a list of eleven cartoon Halloween specials that aired before 2000 and are guaranteed to scare, amuse, and delight in equal measure.

 

1.“Spongebob Squarepants: Scaredy Pants” (1999)
