Maintaining a Workout Routine During Exam Weeks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

With exams around the corner, getting a workout in may be challenging. There are many resources on YouTube, Pinterest, and at Fike Recreation Center on campus that make fitting a workout into your studying routine very simple!

Fike has many classes that some people often don’t acknowledge. This week, I participated in the Raise the Barre class, which is a 60-minute full body workout that requires total engagement throughout the duration of the hour. I had never done a workout class before, and this one really kicked my butt. There are other classes such as Solid COREange, which only lasts 30-minutes, so it’s easy to fit into a busy studying schedule. Yoga, spinning, and Zumba classes are also offered, and the best part is…they’re all free!

If you don’t want to head to the gym, YouTube has some wonderful at home workouts that can keep you moving without wasting your time. One of my favorite sources of workout videos is Blogilates, which is a YouTube account run by Cassie Ho. She posts short workout videos, healthy recipes, and stretching routines that are easy, fun, and very effective! If you’re not feeling a workout but need a study break, yoga videos are very relaxing and keep your stress levels down, which everyone needs this time of the semester.

Pinterest is another great resource for short, effective workouts that you can do in your dorm or apartment to break the monotony of studying. You can search ab workouts, leg and arm workouts, and short cardio workouts that keep you active during exam weeks. Last week I searched a 10-minute ab workout and was sore for DAYS. Don’t underestimate the power of Pinterest!

Study breaks are important, and exercise really helps lower stress levels, so stay active! Exams will be over before you know it!
