A Letter to My Bestfriend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Dear Mom,

Ever since I was a little girl, you have been my biggest cheerleader, my confidant, and my very best friend. You always encourage me to chase after my dreams and to do my very best in everything I do. When I need to cry, scream, or yell you are always there to comfort me. When I need advice during hard times, you listen to my problems and give me the best solutions. You love me unconditionally and even when I mess up, you are the first to tell me “everything will be okay.” Growing up, I have always looked to you as my role model. I have always admired your poise, your elegance, and the way you go through life with such grace. Even when difficult problems come up, you still manage to see the good in everyone and everything.

You accept me for who I am and you never make me feel like I am not good enough. You laugh with me and you’re silly with me even when I’m laughing at something that you don’t think is funny. You eat ice cream with me late at night and watch cheesy Hallmark movies with me. You let me sleep in your bed when I’m sick and you rub my head until I feel better. You cook with me and through that I have learned how to make some of the most delicious meals ever! You teach me every day to persevere through tough times and you show me every day what it looks like to be a great wife and mother. You work hard and are so passionate about your family even when it means putting your own dreams on hold.

You taught me the importance of believing in myself and knowing my worth so that I will not be defined by other people. You give me constructive criticism that allows me to always be in a state of learning and growth. Thank you for sacrificing your life to take care of me. Thank you for giving me your love and not expecting anything in return. Thank you for teaching me the importance of having good character. Thank you for raising me with good values so that I can go out into the world and be a productive citizen. Thank you for just being my mom. I love you so much!

Love,

Your Daughter
