Every girl in a sorority looks forward to spring formal, between re-wearing a prom dress and finding a date that will tear up the dance floor with you, formal is a blast when “doing” it right.

Reliving prom is a scary thought for me personally, however sorority formal is similar in a way with a cute date, fun dress, and the endless photo-shoot with all your sisters. First comes first, finding the perfect dress. Many of us decided to eat too much Chipotle freshman year and our prom dresses from high school might be a little harder to zip. However, that’s one of the benefits of being in a sorority, every girl has a prom dress or two from high school. Asking around, on the sorority hall, or older sisters for a dress is the simplest way of finding a formal dress. Do some social media stalking (have to creep way back into high school pictures) and you might luck out with a fabulous dress to wear. Another option can always be ordering a cute and springy maxi dress online, many online boutiques have affordable maxis that you can wear more than once! Purchasing a dress to wear once seems pointless, so look for a dress you can re-wear to a wedding or graduation party. Asking around campus the past month, Lulu’s, Anthropologie, and Rent the Runway have been the most common, so check them out if you need a dress!

On top of a dress, the perfect date is crucial to get through the night. The single life in college is a blast, until you need a date to a function and formal. Many girls stress over finding the perfect date, when to ask him, and overthink absolutely everything, when its not worth sweating about. As long as he can groove to your favorite dance song (Come on Eileen), smile through photos that will end up on Instagram, and opens the doors for you, you’ve got yourself the perfect date!

Lastly, having your sisters by your side the entire night is what makes sorority formal so memorable. From getting ready together, taking fake candid pictures laughing, and kicking off your heels once you get there, are all the moments that make you appreciate your sorority and sisters even more. With being in full swing of formal season, make sure you don’t stress too much about a dress or date, practice your dance moves, and soak up every second spent with your sisters!
