How to Celebrate April: A List of Random Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.
  • April 1st – Fun at Work Day. Unfortunately, since April 1st is a Sunday this year, not all of us have work. But if you do by chance, perhaps you may want to get your coworkers together for lunch or test out a new April Fool’s prank.

  • April 3rd – World Party Day. I doubt anyone needs ideas on how to celebrate World Party Day.  Live it up!

  • April 4th – Tell a Lie Day. I don’t think it would be appropriate of me to condone the celebration of such a holiday, but I felt like I had to mention it anyway for the sake of your curiosity.

  • April 5th – Read a Road Map Day. This may be fun considering many of us have likely not done this in our lifetime. You never know, technology may fail us all one day and we could all be forced to use one.

  • April 6th – Walk to Work Day. Get some extra exercise in on Friday morning. Some say it’s a great way to start your day!

  • April 10th – Sibling’s Day. Sibling’s day is one of the most popular holidays on social media each year. Join the crowd and post a picture of you and your built-in besties!  Maybe also take them to get ice cream or shoot them a nice text if they live far away.

  • April 11th – Barbershop Quartet Day. I am not entirely sure if it’s realistic for everyone to celebrate such a holiday, but if the opportunity presents itself, by all means, go for it!

  • April 12th – Grilled Cheese Day. It’s never a bad day to consume grilled cheese, but an entire day dedicated to it? Count me in.

  • April 13th – Scrabble Day. Play it safe on Friday the 13th with a nice, calm game of scrabble with your buds.

  • April 14th – International Moment of Laughter Day. Make someone laugh. Laughing is good for your soul. I enjoy this holiday.

  • April 16th – Wear Pajamas to Work Day. People are more productive in comfortable clothes, right?

  • April 17th – Haiku Poetry Day. Be creative today! Remember, 5 syllables, then 7, then 5 again.

  • April 18th – Columnist Day. This day is to commemorate the life and work of columnist Ernest Taylor Pyle on the anniversary of his death. Read a newspaper column today!

  • April 20th – Look Alike Day. Spend the day with your doppelgänger! Dress identically and copy each other’s mannerisms for more fun.

  • April 21st – Record Store Day. If you have one near you, go participate in community and culture!

  • April 22nd – Jelly Bean Day. Still have some left over from Easter? Now’s your chance to finish those bad boys off.

  • April 23rd – Take a Chance Day. You may fail, but it’s a perfect excuse to play with some odds!

  • April 24th – Poem in Your Pocket Day. Carry your favorite poem in your pocket and share it with family and friends!

  • April 25th – DNA Day. Recognize the importance of genetics today, as it is the 65th anniversary of the double helix structure being published.

  • April 26th – Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. This was by far one of my favorite days as a child. Even when I got to be too old to go to work with my parents, I loved when my teachers and professors brought their kids.

  • April 27th – World Pinhole Photography Day. This may be the day for you to pick up a new hobby and profession!

  • April 29th – Zipper Day. Zippers are something we take for granted and need to be celebrated.

  • April 30th – Honesty Day. Honesty day should be everyday!
