Hana Anderson ’18

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.
This week, I had the pleasure of interviewing the beautiful Hana Anderson. She

is the sweetest girl in the world and I know that you are all going to love her. If

you see her around campus, don’t be afraid to say hi!

1. Why did you choose Clemson University?

I chose Clemson University because I absolutely loved the atmosphere. My

parents moved to Greenville from Charleston a little over four years ago, and I

had never visited the upstate or Clemson University. At that point, I was

settled on attending the College of Charleston and remaining within

Charleston throughout my undergraduate degree. In our family, I have always

been told: “One great way to become familiar with a new place happens to be

driving around aimlessly, getting a bit lost, and discovering places that have

the potential to become home”. It was that little piece of advice that brought

my mom and me to Clemson one afternoon. That was also the day that I

wandered around downtown Clemson, ventured into Tillman Hall, walked

across Bowman, stood at the gate of Death Valley, and began to discover

that Clemson was a place that could become a home. I was swept away by

the little town that seemed to circle around a beautiful campus. After that one

afternoon, I followed my feeling that Clemson University could be a place that

I could call home, and I applied a bit over two years later. Since then, since I

am now into the third year of my undergraduate, I have experienced almost

every corner and tradition of Clemson. That has only strengthened the feeling

that I felt on my first visit to here. It is also so lucky to be only a couple of

minutes from the lake and a little drive to hiking spots, which only adds to how

perfect of a home Clemson can be!

2. What are you involved in on campus?

On campus, I am involved with Gamma Sigma Sigma, and I am also a

member of the French club!

3. Favorite Clemson restaurant/bar?

I used to absolutely love going to Mellow Mushroom, but Brioso has taken

that place now that Mellow Mushroom has gone away! However, I think the

Study Hall may replace that soon. It’s been really taking shape over the past

few months, so I think will very soon become a favorite!

4. What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I absolutely love to do anything outdoors! It’s the perfect time

of the year to go hiking and camping, so I love to do those as often as I am

able to. I also really love to go up on the Dyke for a run after I get out of my

evening classes, and I love to do a lot of the water activities during the

warmer days. Even taking an Eno and a good book to the lake make for a

great day! Otherwise – I love to attend as many sporting events and other

events that held on campus!

5. Celebrity Crush?

Oh goodness…. I could stare at Charlie Hunnam without blinking for about

ten hours (which has a little extra creepy added but noooshaaaame).

6. Favorite Clemson tradition?

I may have to choose more than one… because I am struggling to choose

between the two that I have! For our Tigers, I absolutely love the 25 seconds

of running down the hill. Those are the most exciting seconds that set the

mood for the whole game, and I love how animated Death Valley becomes

during those seconds and remains at that point throughout the duration of the

game. Receiving your Clemson ring has also become a favorite Clemson

tradition of mine. That became my favorite after I visited Minnesota a couple

of months ago, and I met an elderly gentleman who had his Clemson ring on.

He had been wearing his ring almost as long as his wedding band, and I

loved being able to connect and hear the adventures of his own Clemson

University days!

7. Ideal/best first date you have been on?

That’s a bit of tough question because on one hand, I love dinner and a

movie, but I also love the thought of a date involving an activity that the two

have not done before. I once went on a picnic and paddle boarding as a first

date, and I thought that was great, and I loved every second because we

were both horrible at balancing and ended up laughing almost the entire time!

8. What do you want to do in your career?

I have my eye set on medical school, which I’d love to attend to become a

pediatric surgeon. I have a couple of alternative plans too, but I think they

each surround working within a medical setting!

9. Current favorite fashion trend?

I love the look of ankle boots with edges of tight pants rolled a little bit. It’s

starting to be seen all over campus (rather than the riding styled boots), and I

love how that can be styled with a long shirt and leggings, too!

10. What fun things did you do this summer?

Over the summer, I drove to Florida without any company! It was to visit my

older sister who teaches at the University of Florida, and I had also never

been to Florida before. It was quite a drive to do alone! I also flew out to

Minnesota for a weekend visit to my extended family. Otherwise, I stayed

around Clemson and spent most days on the water. I always believe that

summer should be eventful yet relaxing before diving back into the books in

August!
Hey! My name's Liz and I'm a Sigma Kappa at Clemson University! I love my school more than anything in the world and love sharing that with y'all!!
