The 6 Best Things About Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.
The Best Things About Halloween

Since Fall has already arrived (although the weather may not agree), and I am

already planning my Halloween party, I thought I would share with you some of

what I believe the best things about Halloween are.

1. Dressing Up

There is nothing more fun than getting to pretend to be something you’re

not, and have an excuse to do it without people making fun of you (which is

why I can’t dress like Cinderella every day). You can be anything from the

traditional witch to a sexy reindeer (yes, that exists), and go crazy for just

one night.

See? I told you.

2. Halloween Candy

My roommate and I always get extra excited when we can go to the grocery

store and pick up a bag of Halloween candy. Yes, you can buy candy any other

day of the year, but not a huge bag full of Milky Ways and Twix and Snickers

all together in fun, bite-sized pieces. That you can stuff your face with. And

not feel horrible about.

3. Hocus Pocus

All hail the reigning champion of Halloween movies. You can argue about that

all you want, but you’ll never win. There are so many reasons this movie is

the best. Bette Midler’s version of “I Put A Spell On You?” Sarah Jessica

Parker’s entire character? All the hilarious sexual innuendos that you missed

as a child? Everything about this movie is beautiful.

4. Halloween Decorations

I wish I could decorate for Halloween every day of the year. I love driving by

houses and seeing graveyards and vampires and all sorts of spooky

creatures. Plus, who doesn’t love those awesome giant spider webs that are

literally indestructible and impossible to use?

5. Trick-Or-Treating

While we are (sadly) too old to trick-or-treat, it’s still magical to give candy

out to kids dressed up as Elsa or Captain America. It makes you remember all

the times you went trick-or-treating, and what a spectacular season this is.

6. Haunted Houses

I worked at a month-long haunted house for two years, and it was the best

time of the year. Scaring people is a lot of fun, especially when people come

specifically for that reason. Whether you’re the one doing the scaring, or

you’re the one peeing your pants, haunted houses are a source of adrenaline

that can’t be replicated any other time of the year.

So there you have it. All the best parts of the best time of the year. Make sure you’re

getting your costume ready and don’t forget to stock up on all that Halloween candy!

Happy Haunting!
