Senior Series: Haley Smith

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clark chapter.

This week we caught up with senior Haley Smith. Read on to discover what she’ll miss most about Clark and her advice for underclassmen!

Name: Haley Smith

Hometown: Littleton, NH

Major: Management

Favorite Professor at Clark: Mary-Ellen Boyle – I’m convinced she was the reason #girlboss was created.

Favorite Class at Clark: Consumer Behavior with Professor Murphy. I’m interested in apparel merchandising, so this class is super interesting to me – but honestly Tom Murphy is a riot and whether you’re interested in his courses or not you should really take one just for the crazy stories you’ll take away.

Favorite Spot to Study on Campus and Why: I live off campus and it’s a hard sell to get me to leave my desk. When I moved into my apartment this past fall, the desk was so wide it actually wouldn’t fit through the door, but I was so committed to that giant study space that (with my Mom’s help and our neighbor’s power tools) we sawed the edges off so it just squeezed through!

Favorite Bistro Snack: Whatever someone with extra dining dollars wants to treat me to… because let’s be honest I miss the meal plan life.

What has been your favorite thing about going to school at Clark?

Living with five of my best friends has been one of the sweetest gifts that Clark has given me. I’ll never forget the spontaneous nights that we stayed up playing cards and Pitch, the countless orders of Wings Over Worcester, or our self-choreographed dance to Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride from Lilo and Stitch (please don’t ask me why, I don’t think any of us know the reason). These girls make an appearance in every memory I’ve made during the past four years and I’ll be forever grateful to have called them roommates, friends, and family.

What will you miss most about Clark?

All of Clark’s little quirks hold a special place in my heart – Elephant Thursday, Freud, the squirrels, not knowing if things happening in the AC are real life or psych projects, seeing the bright escort lights from a mile away, Bagel Brunches… the list is long!

What clubs and activities were you involved with on campus?

Dance Society – I can’t believe I’ve taken the stage for the last time! Four years with those ladies was a treat to say the least.

What are your best words of wisdom for underclassmen?

Do the things that scare you the most. The main reason I studied abroad was because it was about 10,624 miles outside of my comfort zone, and it ended up being a semester full of unbelievable experiences and fun that I’ll remember forever!

What are your plans post-graduation?

Don’t worry, I’ll be back next year for the 5th year accelerated MBA program!

Thanks Haley!
