Summer is finally just around the corner! It will soon be time to turn all of those imagined getaways on your “Wanderlust” Pinterest board into reality and hit the road for some summer fun. While it’s nice to have a trip planned in advance, there will always be some last minute, unexpected opportunity to get out of town for a few days. Even if you’re short on packing time, here are a few essentials to make sure you throw into your bag before heading out the door.

1. Toothbrush – while it may seem like a no brainer, it’s super easy to forget to pack an essential like this when you’re in a rush. Make sure you’ve got a toothbrush and small tube of travel sized toothpaste with you before you hit the road. You never know when you’ll need to freshen up, and sometimes substitutes like gum just won’t cut it. Keep your toothbrush safe and clean in any bag by using the Steripod Toothbrush Protector. This powerful pod uses thymol, an ingredient found in mouthwash and oral antiseptics, to keep your toothbrush fresh and sanitary at all times. Bonus: it comes in all kinds of cute, summery colors!

2. Deodorant – one of the best things about summer is that it means lots of sun and warm weather. However, this also means lots of sweat! We’ve all been enjoying a nice beach day or been at an outdoor summer concert when we realize that the B.O. we’re smelling is actually coming from us. To prevent this from happening, grab a stick of Secret’s invisible solid deodorant in their new Cool Waterlily scent. This new deodorant helps you stay fresh for a full 48 hours making it perfect for summer trips where you’ll need it to last all day. Grab a full size stick or pick up a bunch of travel sized minis and keep one in every bag!

3. Cleansing Wipes – the hot weather can do a lot to your body besides just making you sweat! It can also throw off your body’s natural pH balance and leave you feeling less than fresh. That’s where Simply Summer’s Eve Cleansing Cloths come in. These handy little cloths work with your body to help maintain a natural pH and will wipe away any odor-causing bacteria anytime/anywhere. This makes them perfect to have with you on the go after a day of travelling or lounging on the beach! Plus, they come in summery fresh scents like coconut water and mandarin blossom. Talk about a travel essential!

4. A Good Book – depending on your method of transportation to your summer getaway, you might have quite a bit of time where you’re just sitting waiting to get from point A to point B. It’s always good to throw a nice book in your bag to keep you occupied when you have down time during your travels. Author Jardine Libaire’s newest novel White Fur is a great option to add to your summer reading list! This novel set in 1980s New York City follows two star-crossed young lovers as they fight for their love and their lives due to shocking turns of events. A must read!

5. Comfortable Shoes – we’ve all made the mistake of going for “cute” over “comfy” when it comes to shoes and then immediately regretting it when we start to feel blisters forming. Summer adventures often involve being outdoors and lots of walking, and being uncomfortable can really kill your mood. Make sure to pack a pair of comfortable shoes that you know you can throw on at any time if your feet start hurting. These little ballet flats fold up and come in a nice drawstring bag making them easy to toss in a bag!The peace of mind will allow you to make the most out of your trip!

6. Sunglasses – last but not least, your ultimate summer travel companion will be your cutest pair of sunnies! Not only will they keep you looking chic at all times, they’ll be a necessity when you’re basking in the sun or taking in the sites of a new city on a sunny day. Keep them by your side at all times because you’ll definitely miss them if you forget to pack them!

Safe travels, collegiettes!
