The Perfect First Date

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clarion chapter.

I have never been on a date, have never had a boyfriend, and I can’t help but think I am the most boring individual to ever exist. With all this being said, it is not like I have never imagined how I would want my first date to go.

There is endless possibilities for any date; there’s going out to eat, going to a movie, going to a sporting events, the list goes on and on. So, how do I pinpoint what would be my first date goals? I love to eat, but I also love to watch movies, and I even like to watch the majority of sports. However, I don’t imagine any of these to be my perfect first date.

In all honesty, I like simplicity. I stray away from the extravagant in favor of the “simpler things in life,” in all aspects of my life. With that in mind, my perfect first date would be something like walking around campus, letting conversation naturally come, and maybe stopping to get a coffee at some point.

I would want to talk about the music they like, the books they enjoy, and why they choose the career path they’re pursuing; I think you can tell a lot about a person from these things. I would want it to be casual and create an environment in which both people are comfortable, so although I disclosed what I would want my first date to be like, it does not have to be that date.

It does not matter what you do on that first date, but who you are with. I know, this is starting to sound cheesy, but stick with me. You can have a million first dates, but they don’t matter until you have found someone that can see yourself with. My ideal first date is a lot of things, but most importantly, it is being with someone who could really mean something to me someday.
