The Health Benefits of Drinking Mushroom Coffee

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cincinnati chapter.

As I mentioned in my last article, coffee is a warming drink that brings a sense of coziness. What if coffee could bring you a sense of coziness with added health benefits snuck in there as well? Keep reading to get the scoop on what the heck mushroom coffee consists of and why you would want to drink it!

What is mushroom coffee?

Mushroom coffee is literally coffee (ground beans or instant powder) mixed with mushrooms to provide health benefits for immunity, energy, and longevity.

What are the types of mushroom coffee?

The most common types of mushroom coffee occur in two forms: ground coffee beans and instant coffee powder. The mushroom coffee typically consists of a mixture of different types of mushrooms instead of just one type. The ground coffee bean includes a dark roast with lion’s mane and chaga mushrooms and a decaf roast with reishi and chaga mushrooms. The powdered instant coffee comes in many different types including a mushroom coffee mix with Cordyceps and chaga, green mushroom coffee mix with chaga and maitake, and mushroom coffee mix with lion’s mane and chaga.

What are the benefits of mushroom coffee?

Each mushroom blend has different benefits. Mushroom coffee with chaga is alkaline forming which helps improve your energy and metabolism. Mushroom coffee with lion’s mane supports focus, creativity, memory, concentration, and brain health. Mushroom coffee with cordyceps helps to achieve and sustain steady energy levels. Green mushroom coffee with chaga and maitake helps support a steady glycemic balance, improved digestive system, and enhanced metabolism.

If you are a coffee addict like me, then I would recommend trying something new and pour yourself a cup of mushroom coffee!
