What are you studying and why did you choose it?

Double major in Creative Writing and Journalism.

I love to write. Whether it’s prose, poetry, or journalistic writing, I really enjoy it.

Where are you from? What’s your favorite thing about your hometown?

Pittsburgh.

I love this city because there’s always something to do. I’ve lived elsewhere before, but I always come back because there’s always stuff here to entertain me. There are always events going on and museums and galleries to explore. I can never get bored in this town.

Favorite Books:

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Le Petit Prince, Peter Pan, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Cloud Atlas, Big Fish, The Great Gatsby, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, The Wizard of Oz, The Princess Bride, Girl, Interrupted, and loads more.

Favorite Movies:

Big Fish, Where the Wild Things Are, Amelie, Miyazaki movies, Wes Anderson movies, Malice in Wonderland, Ruby Sparks, The Fall, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Science of Sleep, John Hughes movies, Labyrinth, Guillermo del Toro movies, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Heathers, Jeux D’enfants, The Virgin Suicides, The Craft, 10 Things I Hate About You, Girl, Interrupted, Clueless, and many more.

Favorite TV Shows:

Veronica Mars, American Horror Story, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development, Scrubs, Freaks and Geeks, Supernatural, Game of Thrones, Skins UK, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and a lot more.

 Favorite Musicians/Bands:

The Airborne Toxic Event, Placebo, Daughter, Bear’s Den, The Smiths, Lorde, David Bowie, Death Cab For Cutie, Florence + the Machine, Frightened Rabbit, Dog is Dead, Lana Del Rey, Marina and the Diamonds, Paramore, Nirvana, Vampire Weekend, and many many many others. It’s so hard to keep it to a reasonably sized list.

Why did you choose Chatham?

I almost didn’t go to college, but a teacher of mine was a Chatham alumna and convinced me that I would really find my place at Chatham. She was right.

What do you love most about being a Chatham woman?

I love all of the opportunities to do great things on campus. I’ve had so many opportunities here that I doubt I could have found anywhere else.

What was your childhood dream job?

A vampire or a witch.

What’s your current dream job and why?

I’d really love to write for magazines like Nylon, Rolling Stone, Vogue, or The New Yorker. Also I really want to be an author and a poet on the side. I’d love to see my creative work published as well as my journalistic writing.
