Exit Interview: Casey Deer, Writer and Business Team Member

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

We’re celebrating the HC Chatham team members who graduated in May 2015 with a series of Exit Interviews!

Casey Deer is endlessly giving. One of the first students to join the HC Chatham Business Team, she helped brainstorm pathways for promotion and brought enthusiasm to events. When we asked team members for article quotes, Casey eagerly offered advice on everything from studying for finals to making friends in college. As a senior, she added “writer” to her HC Chatham resume with a debut article sharing strategies to make downtime fun. Her kind words, generous support and joyful spirit shaped our chapter and touched our team.

Why did you choose to join the Her Campus Chatham team?
I remember I joined Her Campus because it sounded like a cool club for college women. I felt honored when Mara Flanagan asked me to join in my freshman year Scholar science class.

As the undergraduate college goes coed, what are your hopes for the future of HC Chatham?
I hope that Chatham men respect the club and some men even support it.

What did you like most about your time at Chatham?
The thing I liked most about Chatham was my senior tutorial report.

What surprised you?
I was surprised by how small the school actually was being a student there.

What advice do you have for the Class of 2019?
Study, stay focused, and your hard work will pay off.

What do you love most about Chatham women?
We all made the same decision to attend Chatham.

By the time of your 50th Reunion, where do you hope you’ll be in life?
Happy and with family and friends.

Is there anything else you’d like to say to your Chatham family?
Not all days at Chatham will be easy, but look to the future and see the endless possibilities with your degree.
