This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

December’s iQ: smartparent episode, “Like, Follow, Share”, is all about social media. We asked HC Chatham team members to tell us their favorite social media networks. Check out their picks, then tell us yours in the comments!

Whether you’re a parent, student teacher or babysitter, tune in to WQED on December 12 at 8pm to find out how you can keep the kids in your life safe online.

Facebook

“Facebook is my favorite social network because it’s a fast and easy way to communicate with my peers. Not everyone checks their school email daily, but everyone’s got Facebook on their phone!”

– Shannon Ward, Writer

“My favorite social network is Facebook. Facebook gives me the opportunity to stay in touch with friends from my hometown, my country and with family that I don’t have the opportunity to see that often. Facebook also allows me to make my profile as private or public as I want, and I can put pictures of the best moments of my life along with statuses about how I feel at the moment about anything. Facebook is the happy medium between Instagram and Twitter.”

– Paula Cardona, Writer

LinkedIn

“I enjoy using LinkedIn because I can connect with professionals in my field.”

– Amy Chau, Social Media Director

“LinkedIn is my favorite social network, because it keeps me connected to professional contacts, including professors, employers, and peers, and allows me to display a list of my achievements in an informal resume. However, I do enjoy reading Twitter for fun! Misha Collins’ account always has the most hilarious posts.”

– Onastasia Youssef, Blog Section Editor/Entertainment Writer

Pinterest

“I don’t really like social media and am thinking of gettting rid of my accounts; however, I enjoy Pinterest the most because as someone that likes to do crafts and take on projects, it’s like a scrapbook of things to do.”

– Kaitlin Tomko, Writer

Twitter

“I love Twitter because it helps me connect to family, and I use it for professional situations too.” – Casey Deer, Business Team Member
