The Best Parks and Rec Episodes for Valentine’s Day Blues

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

Being single, most of the time, is pretty great. It’s freeing, fun, and allows you to spend much more time with your friends.

The beginning of February can make being single feel not as great as usual, though. We face barrages of romantic images, and everyone is celebrating a kind of romantic love we don’t have at the moment.

For me, the best thing to do when I’m feeling down about anything is cuddle up in my blanket and watch some Parks and Rec. These are the episodes that make me feel confident and happy with being single.

1. Pawnee Rangers – Season 4 Episode 4

This episode focuses on girl power, equality, and the bond of friendship between Leslie and Ron. It’s great at any point, but especially great for a distraction from relationship issues.

2. Beauty Pageant – Season 2 Episode 3

April enters a beauty pageant solely to win money, and she reminds us what the important things are.

3. Ron and Tammy, Part 2 – Season 3 Episode 4

Some relationships are so bad they aren’t worth it, and Ron and Tammy are a prime (and hilarious) example.

4. Hunting Trip – Season 2 Episode 10

This episode shows Leslie breaking boundaries for women in the office, and the friendships in the Parks and Rec department becoming stronger.

5. Greg Pikitus – Season 2 Episode 7

Leslie takes down her number one villain in this episode, and on Halloween, which is a much better holiday to think about than Valentine’s Day!

Parks and Rec is an amazing and hilarious show that has helped me through many rough points so far. Whether you’ve seen these episodes multiple times like me, or if you’re just now getting into the show, they’ll definitely lift your spirits!
