Somerset, PA. I love trail riding my horse through the mountains.

Area of Study and Why You Chose It:

History Non-Western Concentration. I have always enjoy learning about past. My focus as of now is the Far East.

Favorite Books:

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty trilogy, The Story of O, The Girl with the Pearl (historical fiction) Earring and Game of Thrones.

Favorite Movies:

Doomsday, The Painted Veil, The Time Traveler’s Wife and the first two Mummy movies.

Favorite TV Shows:

American Horror Story, Scandal, Longmire, True Blood, Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

Favorite Musicians/Bands:

The Front Bottoms, Chairlift, Florence and the Machine, The XX, Two Door Cinema Club, Lana Del Rey, Lykke Li, Queen and Billy Joel.

Childhood Dream Job:

To be an equestrian rider in the Olympics.

Current Dream Job:

To become a history professor. I would love to be the next Dr. Michelmore,  instead of the Middle East the Far East. But that may be pushing it!

Why did you choose Chatham?

I chose Chatham because it is a small school with the type of community I enjoy.

What do you love most about being a Chatham woman?

All the opportunities to study abroad and live with international students.

  Mara Flanagan is entering her seventh semester as a Chapter Advisor. After founding the Chatham University Her Campus chapter in November 2011, she served as Campus Correspondent until graduation in 2015. Mara works as a freelance social media consultant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She interned in incident command software publicity at ADASHI Systems, gamification at Evive Station, iQ Kids Radio in WQED’s Education Department, PR at Markowitz Communications, writing at WQED-FM, and marketing and product development at Bossa Nova Robotics. She loves jazz, filmmaking and circus arts.
