Guys Give Us The Dirty On Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

Valentine’s Day is full of pink hearts and beautiful flowers held by little stuffed teddy bears, but have you ever thought about how guys look at Valentine’s Day and the traditions that come along with it? These three guys allowed me to interview them and get an inside look on how guys truly feel about the day of love.

Ages

Guy #1: 21

Guy #2: 19

Guy #3: 20

Guy #4: 19

Relationship Status

Guy #1: Single and ready to mingle

Guy #2: In a relationship

Guy #3: Single

Guy #4: VERY single

What is one characteristic you look for in a significant other?

Guy #1: Honesty and a sense of humor

Guy #2: Must appreciate my humor

Guy #3: Spontaneous, always ready to try something new

Guy #4: They have to be both kind and compassionate

How do you feel about Valentine’s Day?

Guy #1: Meh, it hasn’t been eventful.

Guy #2: Valentine’s Day is a day to take time and show how much someone means to you.

Guy #3: It’s a Hallmark holiday that’s blown out of proportion. It’s too big of a deal.

Guy #4: Mixed feelings. On one hand, I like it because the celebration of romance is cool, but honestly, I feel like it just pressures people into forcing feelings they don’t have or make people feel bad for being single.

What is your idea of a perfect Valentine’s Day date?

Guy #1: Going out to a nice restaurant and seeing a movie afterwards.

Guy #2: My perfect Valentine’s Day date would be something simple. A good meal and then watching a movie or taking a dip in the jacuzzi.

Guy #3:  A nice dinner, followed by ice cream and then some stargazing or a night walk.

Guy #4: To me personally, I think that just sharing a nice day together and maybe get a nice meal and watch a movie, but in reality, just taking the day to be grateful for the person you share your life with.

Would you exchange gifts with your significant other for Valentine’s Day?

Guy #1: I suppose I would.

Guy #2: Yes!

Guy #3: I would exchange small gifts.

Guy #4: Absolutely, I love giving gifts.

If you had to buy them a gift what would it be?

Guy #1: Flowers and their favorite candy.

Guy #2: Chocolate. So much chocolate. Maybe cookies. Possibly something sloth related…my girlfriend loves sloths.

Guy #3: Chocolate is always lovely, but sentimental gifts would be good, too.

Guy #4: I wouldn’t buy her anything. I only give handmade gifts.  Maybe bake her some sweets or make her a painting.

What is one gift you would want for Valentine’s Day?

Guy #1: A nice letter or card.

Guy #2: Something personal! Something that lets me know my girlfriend knows what I like and took the time to find a gift.

Guy #3: Sentimental gifts.

Guy #4: Company, but actually probably something simple like a movie or like baked goods. Nothing major.
