6 Healthier Alternatives to Traditional Energy Drinks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

As college students we are used to late nights in the library, fueled by Red Bulls, Monsters, and 5-hour Energies. However, we also care about our health. Here are a few options for healthier energy drinks, guarenteed to keep you focused during those all-nighters.

1. Guayaki Yerba Mate

This South American herb is known for its rejuvenating energizing effects. It has the strength of coffee, health benefits of tea, and euphoria of chocolate.

2. Purps

Created by the father of a Chapman student, this grape-flavored organic energy drink is sure to make you buzz. Purps is also hitting the scene as a favorite mixer.

3. Just Chill

OK, so this one isn’t technically an energy drink (there is no caffeine in Just Chill!). L-Theanine is the active ingredient in it, which is an amino acid found in green tea that relaxes you so that you can clear your mind and focus better. Just Chill also has B Vitamins to lift your mood, magnesium to loosen your muscles, and zinc and C vitamins to boost your immune system. Plus, we like the name.

4. Positive Energy

Created by a Chapman alumni, Positive Energy infuses natural caffeine with fruit juices, making a delicious and natural energy drink.

5. Starbucks

The Starbucks refreshers use green coffee extract, which provide you with natural energy. They are the perfect afternoon pick-me-up!

6. Hi-Ball

Hi-Ball energy drinks provide caffeine with zero calories and zero added sugar. The trick? Hi-Ball infuses their sparkling water with caffeine for energy. It tastes great, and you won’t feel bad about drinking extra sugar. Drink up!
