6 Quotes You Might Need Right Now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Sometimes your friends just don’t get what you’re going through and they aren’t able to find the right words to provide comfort or they’re not quite sure how to give the best advice. Other times you may not understand what you’re feeling because it could be too hard to put into words. Maybe other times you just need a little inspiration to get through the day or the week. When all things fail, quotes remain, and there is a quote for everything.

Here are 6 quotes, 6 little nuggets of wisdom, for 6 different topics.

1. For that non-committal guy who gives you the bare minimum to keep you around:

“I will not be your sometimes.” – Six Word Story

Read it again. You are Beyoncé waiting for her Jay-Z, and you will not settle for less. If

you are someone’s “sometimes” then you are settling for far less than you deserve.

You deserve to be someone’s “always” and you should accept no less for yourself

because you are worthy of so much more.

      2.  On the people that continue to disappoint you:

“It’s time to distance yourself from the people who let you down, the inconsistent ones.” – Billy Chapata

Certain people become comfort zones and you don’t want to let them go because they’re what you know. However, if there’s someone in your life who consistently disappoints you or hurts you then you should say goodbye. Respecting yourself is surrounding yourself with people who value you and your time.

    3.  On being emotional or feeling strongly about something or someone

“Never apologize for how you feel. No one can control how they feel. The sun doesn’t apologize for being the sun. The rain doesn’t say sorry for falling. Feelings just are.” – Iain S. Thomas, Intentional Dissonance

You never have to justify your feelings to anyone because they are yours alone. You also do not have to explain yourself to anyone unless that’s what you choose. Never let anyone make you feel inferior because you may feel more strongly about things than they do. We’re all hardwired differently.

    4.  On moving on

“You’ll never find the right person if you never let go of the wrong one.” – unknown

Moving on can be the hardest thing to do, but if something is meant to be, it will be. Sometimes we want to stay behind with the wrong person because it’s what we’re accustomed to and we can be scared of the unknown, but one should not accept mediocre love.

   5. On getting everything you desire

“I deserve the world, so I’m going to give it to myself.” – unknown

At the end of the day, all you have is yourself. Be strong and don’t rely on others to give you what you want or need because you can accomplish your goals on your own. There’s nothing wrong with being independent and taking care of things yourself. Be fierce.

6. On people that come and go

“From 18 to 22 you meet a lot of temporary people.” – unknownPeople come and go in life and that’s a natural part of growing up. It’s normal for people our age to make friends, fall out of touch, then make new friends. Interests change, schedules make contact hard, and people grow. Just remember to be grateful for the ones who do stick around.
