If you are in love with fashion and want to learn more about it, there are a lot of documentaries that talk about its history, social impacts and icons that will make you rethink your ideas about what fashion really is. We made you a list with 5 documentaries (all of them available on Netflix) to check it out.

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel

One of the most important fashion editors, Diana Vreeland was an eccentric and controversial person. But no one can doubt her talent and competence on her work. The documentary shows her career, from Harper’s Bazaar to the Metropolitan Museum of Art expositions, and her complicated relationship with her family. A must-watch for any fashion fan.

Iris

Iris Apfel is a 95 years old fashion icon. Her unique style and amazing fashion collection, besides the beautiful relationship with her husband, are the focus of this fun and emotional doc. But the best thing about it is that it makes you reflect on what is the true meaning of fashion.

The True Cost

If you are a fashion victim or a fast fashion stores fan, after watching this chocking documentary you might rethink your next visit to the shopping mall. “The True Cost” is about what you can’t see in those beautiful store showcases: bad working conditions, even leading people to death. The director Andrew Morgan shows the humanitarian problems in fashion industry and makes an important question: what is the real cost for what we wear?

Dior and I

After the scandal of John Galliano, in 2011, saying “I love Hitler” in a restaraunt, Dior needed to improve their image. So, when Raf Simons was going to work on his first haute couture show for the maison, they decided to transform the process into a doc. And the result couldn’t be more wonderful. “Dior and I” will make you sigh with the amazing work Raf Simons created.

Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer

Similar to “Dior and I”, “Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer” is about the first fashion show Jeremy Scott produced to the legendary maison Moschino. The documentary presents the creative process to the famous McDonald’s inspired show, the history of Jeremy and his ideas of fashion.
