REVIEW: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Are you curious to know the secret to ridiculously flawless looking skin? Well, let me introduce you to MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Skinfinish Natural face powder.

MAC Cosmetics is one of the top high-end beauty brands that cater to everyone, often repeating the mantra “all ages, all races, all sexes”. I have always loved MAC Cosmetics for all of my eyeshadows, eyeliners, and mascaras, but they have a little bit of a reputation for their face makeup being too heavy for the everyday woman.

While I still think their face makeup is better as performance makeup (not everyday), they have convinced me their MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is the exception. This face powder won’t leave you with the dreaded ‘cake face’, but instead will even out your skin tone and make your pores disappear.

The MAC website describes the powder as providing a light natural-matte finish, making it the perfect everyday foundation when you want some coverage without having to apply a full face of makeup.  MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is very finely milled and will blend in very well with your skin, rather than sitting on top. This powder is also perfect to set your liquid foundation with to make your complexion look seriously polished. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural will definitely keep you matte all day long.

Just make sure to apply with a light hand, because a little goes a long way! I have been using this powder for over a year now and let me tell you, it is a game changer! When used in combination with my liquid foundation, I know it is not going anywhere the whole day. However, if you have very sensitive skin this powder may not be for you. Like a lot of face powders, it does contain Talc, which can be irritating to sensitive skin and cause breakouts. Just be aware of the ingredients and know your skin type and what it can handle.

If you are in the market for a new face powder, then this one is definitely a must-buy.
