Poly Places: Boo Boo’s Got That Beat

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Around the corner of Broad Street,

Bum. Bum. Bum. Ba. Ba. Dum.

What’s that sound?

It’s Boo Boo Records in downtown SLO!

Located on Monterey Street, a few doors down from Urban Outfitters, this timeless and classic little record store’s got all you need. Boo Boo Records is pretty hard to miss. Its navy awning and white typography contrast boldly with one another and make its name known on the streets.

Inside, the rooms are filled with shelves of CDs, DVDs, vintage t-shirts, postcards and even coffee mugs.

It’s like a little tourist shop, but for music lovers.

The first section of Boo Boo Records displays rows of CDs. From the latest releases of 2015, like Adele’s 25, to oldies like the Mama’s and the Papa’s, Boo Boo Records has the CD for you.

In these aisles, you’ll find discounted CDs from BB King albums ($8) to Paul McCartney’s “Off the Ground” and “Memory Almost Full” for $5.

If CDs aren’t your thing, perhaps you’re a bit more classic and old-fashioned? No worries.

Boo Boo Record’s has a plethora of Vinyls– from the modern-day pop music of Ellie Goulding to riveting West Side Story’s soundtrack, to the chill vibes of Odesza and Fleet Foxes, you’re bound to find the Vinyl you’re looking for.

While each Vinyl costs between $20-$30, these records are great for the collectors.

So, if you’ve got an old record player chilling in the corner of your room, stock up with some classic vinyls at Boo Boo Records today!
