Name: Owen Sebo

Major: Business

Year: 2nd

Hometown: Templeton, CA

Relationship status: Taken

Celebrity crush(es): Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, Rainey Qualley

Spirit animal: Polar Bear

Fun fact about yourself: I’ve seen every “best picture” and I took my first plane ride this year.

Her Campus: What do people say is your best quality?

Owen Sebo: Sincerity, and genuineness. Also his height because it improves his hug quality (thanks Taryn Hastie!).

HC: Do you have any nicknames?

OS: Big O, from my sophomore year of high school for being a big guy. Also some people call me Sea Bear.

HC: What are you involved with on campus?

OS: I’m a member of the Financial Management Association, I also did intramural volleyball last quarter, and I’m a business calculus tutor for the Orfalea College of Business.

HC: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

OS: I see myself with a stable job and a family, hopefully doing something in finance or the film industry. I would like to be in California, being in SLO County would be awesome too.

HC: Who has had the greatest influence on your life?

OS: My parents, my mom and dad, because they’ve done everything for me up to this point and I can thank them enough. I wouldn’t be here without them.

HC: As a local, do you have a favorite place in SLO County or to travel to in California?

OS: I love San Simeon State Beach; it’s a little bit North. My favorite places to travel are Yosemite, Catalina; I went zip lining and parasailing there and Palm Springs.

HC: If you could go anywhere in the world right now where would you go and why?

OS: Spain because I’m working on becoming fluent in Spanish and I would love to be immersed in the language.

HC: What is your ideal first date experience?

OS: I would say it would be a movie in the middle of the day, and then dinner afterwards and that gives you a lot of time to talk to the person and get to know more about them, and then that could spur something that would be a mutual interest.

HC: What is an ultimate deal breaker in a relationship?

OS: Family’s a big thing for me; I have a very small family. Also if someone wasn’t able to accept who I am, and someone who asked me to change who I am.

HC: If your last name was a verb what would it mean?

OS: Always eating, because I’m literally always eating.

HC: What’s your favorite movie out of the best pictures?

OS: So hard! There were some that were hard to get through, like Midnight Cowboy (1969). It was a year and a half ago and I’d seen about 12 and I wanted to finish by the New Year, so I watched All The King’s Men(1949) on New Years Eve.

HC: do you have a prediction for the next best picture?

OS: I think American Hustle will win, and I’m pumped because Jennifer Lawrence is going to win best supporting actress!

HC: If you were any movie character who would you be?

OS:  Christian Bale in The Fighter is my favorite acting performance, but I don’t know if I would necessarily want to be him.

HC: If you could play a sport against any famous athlete what would you play?

OS: I would want to play tennis with Roger Federer. I played tennis in high school and I want to try to pick it back up again here at Cal Poly with some friends. I also played soccer, basketball and I ran cross-country in high school.

HC: Do you have any pets?

OS: I have a dog named Callie. She’s 10 years old and she’s a Border Collie Queensland Rottweiler mix, Callie for California. We call her Callie Wallie, and we got her when she was 5 months old.

Hi everyone! I'm Allie, I am a second year Sociology major minoring in Spanish and Statistics at Cal Poly SLO. I absolutely love living on the central coast. Family, friends, chai tea, Aziz Ansari, kittens, and smiling people are some of my favorite things!
Hi everyone! My name is Austin and I am a second year sociology major from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California! I have wonderful roommates, a fun family, genuine friends, but most of all I treasure my constantly evolving relationship with God. I like to learn, play piano, run, and just hang out with my loved ones. Someday, I hope that I can change the face of education in the United States so that there is more equality of opportunity in our wonderful country. I'd like to leave you with two quotes, one from my favorite person: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." -Jesus Christ and one from my favorite elf... well he's really a human raised by elves... "I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite" -Buddy the elf Okay, have a great, loving, and smile-filled day! Love you all!
