Feeling like a potato is synonymous with feeling lazy, ugly, unworthy, sluggish, unproductive…the list goes on and on. Often this is a feeling associated with seeing others doing something “better” that you think you are not capable of.

Everyone seems to have days like this, so we are going to give you our best tips to help you out of your potato funk.

1. Turn on some good music and dance. We know that music is one thing that can easily shift your mood from “so lame” to “so lit.” Having a dance party by yourself or with a friend is always a great time and a mood booster.

2. Make a list of the things that your potato-self should be doing, pick the easiest one and get it done! That way you will feel more productive and may even be motivated to quit being a potato entirely.

3. Find someone to hang out with, whether it is your roommates, your friends or your mom. Just talk to someone. You could talk about how you feel like a potato or just discuss anything. This will definitely help you feel better and less spud-like.

4. Make yourself a snack, but omit potatoes! If the snack is a potato in any form, then sorry, you’re probably going to stay in your potato-like state because we all know you are what you eat!

5. Look for some funny videos if you’re not feeling like dealing with public interactions or moving. We know BuzzFeed always has videos that never fail to entertain.

6. Get off social media! Looking at other people’s lives on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook can make you feel even more like a potato. Everyone displays their best self on social media, so quit comparing your everyday-self to other people’s best.  

7. Lastly, if all else fails, just embrace it. Have a good time being a potato. Deep down you know you’re human and you will get back to your regular self soon enough, so just ride out the potato train.
