The 4 Tools Your Organization Arsenal Isn’t Complete Without

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

In today’s technological age, there is always something new and better coming out just around the corner. From finding someone near you who wants to cuddle (Cuddlr), to an app that lets you pretend to pop bubble wrap (BubbleWrap), apps are constantly evolving and improving to do just about anything. There is also a never-ending list of apps that can help you get and stay organized. Here are a few of the easiest ones to use that are most efficient.

1. Evernote: This is one of the handiest apps out there. It allows you to take notes and then sync them to all of your other devices. You can take photos right in the app, create lists, save, sync and share files, scan business cards, record voice and audio notes and much more. This app basically contains my life. You can do almost anything work- or school-related on it!

Available on all your devices.

2. Awesome Note (+ToDo):  This is another great app for organization. It allows you to create notes and manage everything in separate folders. You can use a detailed calendar with everything you need on it from birthdays to homework assignments and reminders about work. In addition, Awesome Note lets you  attach photos, maps and drawings to things, and even sync and transfer those to Google Drive or Evernote. It’s customizable, so you can change it up to reflect how you work.

Available for Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.

3. IFTTT: This app, which stands for If This Then That, simplifies and automates your everyday tasks. You choose certain “triggers,” such as, “If I’m tagged in a picture on Facebook,” and the app will text you if and when those triggers occur. IFTTT will text you weather forecasts, reminders about appointments, meetings or just about anything else. It can save anything from the web that you want to read again later, such as an interesting news story.

Available for iOS and Android.

4. Timeful: Yet another helpful app that helps you stay organized and be more productive. It syncs with your calendar to help you make time for other things such as exercise, homework or any other activity that you want to make time for. You can also create to do lists that will automatically be put into your calendar under the optimum time to complete them.

Available for iOS and Android.

I am a journalism major here at the amazing Cal Poly. My goal is to get paid to travel. The ultimate dream job would be to work for National Geographic or a magazine similar to that. I caught the travel bug when I went to China my sophomore year of high school. Since then I have been to Costa Rica, Spain and France. I hope to add to my list this summer and then maybe study abroad with Cal Poly. I love everything that has to do with the outdoors. I enjoy hiking, swimming, biking and yoga. I love writing and am so excited to be a part of Her Campus!
